HERITAGE REFURBISHMENT - HYDE PARK BARRACKS

August - September 2019

The Sydney Hyde Park Barracks is a "World Heritage Conservation Site" and this project required fine attention to detail with heritage style finishes successfully applied by our highly skilled team of tradesman painters.

A WORLD HERITAGE PROJECT

At The Painting People we manage your project from concept to completion using our own full time trained staff and our own preparation equipment. This way we control all aspects of the job "in house" whuch guarantess our clients get the best outcome we can achieve.

EXISTING FLOOR CONDITION

This floor project began with a very tired concrete slab with substantial cracking and oil contamination. The project scope was to provide an epoxy painted surface that would be relatively smooth, bright and easy to clean.

PREPARE SUBSTRATE FOR EPOXY COATING

We began by pressure cleaning to remove surface grease and other contamination, then diamond grinding to finish the prep. Areas where the concrete surface was gravelled and worn from years of use were skim coated with an epoxy mortar and ground flush. Expansion joint edges were also repairs with epoxy mortar.

PAINTING FLOOR WITH 2 PACK EPOXY COATING

The entire floor was coated with heavy duty epoxy by roller. In this case 2 coats of Epirez Heavy Duty epoxy (Supatuff HD) was the preferred epoxy coating. It has a semi gloss finish and high levels of abrasion resisitance.
